"Fitness – If it came in a bottle, everybody would have a great body." – Cher
Most people are too busy or too tired to stay in shape, which is why machines have been made available and more affordable for personal use. Fitness equipment nowadays may even be used while watching television. By committing at least 15 minutes a day performing some exercise routines, you will gradually develop a habit that is not easy to break.
There is no better time to start working out than now. Know your fitness machines and weight room equipment and purchase any of them at your convenience. Regain your self-confidence that has waned since those flabs started to appear. There are plenty of machines and weight room equipment you could use in the comfort of your own home if you feel conscious about going to the gym. There is no longer an excuse for you not to feel good about yourself.
Workouts are classified into strength training and cardio. Combining these two aspects guarantees well-balanced workouts. Under each category, you will find a variety of fitness machines as you may find in health clubs and fitness centers. Many of them are even advertised on your local home TV shopping channel. So what are your different options when it comes to weight training and cardio machines?
Cardio
Cardiovascular health is the foundation of all athletic activities. To be able to reach the peak of your performance, you need a strong heart and healthy blood circulation. Cardio exercise machines like treadmills, elliptical trainers, exercise bikes, rowing machines, and stair climbers give users the same benefits in slightly different ways. They are available for purchase in varying price ranges.
Free Weights
Free weights are not machines but more of basic weight room equipment. This category includes barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, and medicine balls. Dumbbells and barbells may either be of fixed weight or adjustable by altering weight plates attached to both ends of a bar. All free weights are available in different sizes that a trainer may take on one by one as he progresses.
Weight Training Machines
Weight training machines branch out to even more sub-categories. They may be classified according to the muscle groups they concentrate on (i.e. upper body, lower body), the benefits you gain from them (i.e. resistance, endurance, balance), or the type of exercises you may perform using the machines (i.e. presses). Basic weight room machines include fitness racks and weight benches. Racks come with weights attached to a pulley that may be pushed or pulled for building the muscles. With some machines, you have to use your own weight to develop resistance. Some people prefer free weights while others like the safety offered by machines. It is recommended that you try striking a balance between both because they both carry their own advantages and disadvantages.
The key to a healthier and well-toned body is within you. You may buy the most expensive treadmill available or pay for exclusive gym memberships, but if you are not willing to sacrifice some time and effort to improve yourself… if you give up after just a few tries… well, you most definitely know what happens.
